Bathtub Faucet Leaking Ideas
Bathtub faucet leaking wills not only be a waste of water, making your water bill much higher, but will also cause excess moisture in a shower. This excess moisture can cause the growth of mold and other bacteria that are unsightly and unhealthy. Repairing a leaky faucet can be an afternoon job that will pay for itself in no time. Save money on the water bill and a plumber’s bill for the repair of the loss yourself.
The handle of a tap is attached to a valve stem, with a washer on the bottom. The stem is held in the tap with a cap nut that allows the stem to move up and down while the lever is turned. This releases the water to run through the opening of the spout. Most leaks occur in the valve stem, with the washer simply worn out. Replacing the washing machine will stop the leak in most cases. If repaired when a leak starts in the first place, this job is a quick, easy and inexpensive repair.
Turn off the water supply before beginning any plumbing project. Remove the plastic cap on the end of the faucet tap. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, lift one side until the cover fires. Below is a screw. This screw holds the valve stem in place. Unscrew it by turning to the left. Once the screw is free, remove the loose handle of traces of soap residue until it can be removed. Remove the valve stem from the faucet body using a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench. Turn left to delete. After the mother has been released, remove the washer from the bottom. Take the washing machine to a hardware store to buy a new one. This will prevent you from buying an incorrect size.
